Hello everyone,
I'm from the Netherlands (Amsterdam) and have been living in Crete, Greece, for four years. I own a 3200 square meter plot of land. It's located in the Apokoronas region, the greenest area of Crete.
The land is near several authentic Greek villages, and within walking distance are various amenities, including tavernas, a supermarket, and a pharmacy.
The sandy beach is an eight-minute electric bike ride away.
On the land, I have four eco-friendly apartments for rent. I'd also like to start a self-sufficient garden with plenty of vegetables and fruit.
Crete is known for its beautiful nature. There are many gorges you can hike. Apokornas also offers numerous hiking and cycling routes.
For example, the Chania Trails recently opened, and many hiking trails have been created by Dutch residents.
Cultural activities are held year-round, and there are often live Greek music and dance performances.
Nearby are archaeological sites that are older than the Acropolis in Athens.
There is a good bus connection to the two major cities of Chania and Rethymno.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
I'm looking for people who are available for at least four consecutive weeks from mid-March to the end of November. Longer stays are also welcome.
I prefer people between 38 and 45 (of course everybody can react) years old who speak Dutch to help me with the daily operation.
They are spontaneous and hospitable people who embrace Greek life, perhaps want to learn the Greek language, and explore Greek culture.
I'm not really a vegetarian/vegan fan myself. Therefore, I'm looking for people who, besides eating meat, also enjoy going out and the sun, the sea, and the beach.
On average, we work 3 hours a day. If you are allergic to cats or animal hair, you unfortunately do not need to react.
If you don't speak fluently Dutch and have no knowledge of the Dutch culture no need to react!
LIVING ARRANGEMENT
I offer:
Private room (with television) with bathroom. Use of electric bicycle and private swimming pool.
3 (fresh and healthy) meals a day, whatever's provided. Eating out at various taverns once or twice a week. fresh fruit, coffee, tea, soda's, occasionally alcoholic beverages.
There are many walks in the area, and hiking guides are available.
You can also use an electric bike to explore the surrounding area and visit the many villages.
I also expect you to treat my belongings with respect, be neat and clean, and keep your own surroundings clean as well.
As I also rent out 4 apartments it is not aloud to bring other people to the accommodation/plot.
