Organization of socio-eco-cultural festival and re-cultivation of the riverside public space
Location: Brno, Czech Republic
Date: 1st - 7th October
Location: public space of Táborského nábřeží (riverbank), Brno
We are a community of people, named PARK (Positive Action Re-Cultivation), who are interested in the quality of public space and its use. Our general goal is to support and to develop civic participation which form the public space and may improve the quality of life in the city. Through ecological and socio-cultural activities we revitalize neglected public space in Brno with the potential for development of socio-cultural life.
Our first project primarily enhances the neglected public space of Táborského riverbank, draws attention to its efficient use and shows the possibilities of its revitalisation.
From 2nd to 4th October we plan 2nd year of the festival on Táborského riverbank with ecological painting and sculpturing, theater and music performances, documentary projection, art, music, juggling, dance or bike workshops, bazaar, games, canoeing and other sports as well as with public discussion about DIY urbanist activities. Festival is free of cost, with vegan food, without alcohol, with programme from 2 to 9 pm.
We are looking for any guys who like the connection of nature with socio-cultural life of city and would like to help us.
Firstly, we need to help with the organization of the festival - building big top, making vege food (mostly from our gardens or dumpster diving), coffee and tea service, organization of the performances and workshops (if you can and want to perform or teach any art, music, theater or another body activities, you will be surely welcome:)).
After the festival we would like to also repair a path along the river and plant some trees and shrubs to improve the local environment.
Sleeping is in the big top (circus tent) with us in your sleeping bags, last 2 or 3 days in the appartment of our friends.
You can arrive only on the festival as you want.
Vege food and drink will be provided.
Most of us speak English, some of us German, French or Russian.
