Underground permaculture project in a hidden valley behind Hong Kong

Location: Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Our Club is a educative and inclusive space situated in a hidden valley over Clearwater Bay that is empowering the Hong Kong community to re-connect and re-harmonize human living spaces with nature. To achieve this, the organisation uses ecological design principles that aim to improve and promote clean air, clean food and a healthy sustainable lifestyle in Hong Kong. The site is a demonstration of ecological and cultural wealth where creative solutions are designed to resolve the world's most complex issues, many of which are spreading quickly throughout Hong Kong.

The guiding principles are simple; Care for People, Care for the Earth and Share of Surplus.

Since its birth in early 2013, our Club has connected hundreds of people in the Hong Kong community that are looking for an alternative to the concrete jungle lifestyle and unjust socio-economic model that has contributed to the unprecedented environmental crisis we currently face. In doing so, they have begun to transform the local food scene by growing an abundance of fresh organic food gardens and engaging many interest groups with workshops and open days.

Now, our Club is currently undergoing an exciting transition phase upon recently deciding to take its work to the next level of demonstrating sustainability in action, rain or shine. So over the next few months, the team will be designing and constructing new sustainable infrastructure that will incorporate renewable energy systems and rain water catchment as well as new spaces to host school groups, workshops and events.

We look forward to you joining us for this next transformation and learning about the skills that you can bring to take us there.

We would like help with the day to day up keep of Perma Club as well as assistance on various projects that will require hard work and able workers. We also need assistance with organising and running our weekly tours, workshops and events if you have any skills in these areas.

Depending on experience, profession & specialties, we are looking for volunteers that can share knowledge and skills whether it be assisting on a new project or refining our day to day operations.

If you have any specialty skills (i.e carpentry, permaculture design certificate, construction, artwork, cooking etc), please let us know if advance so we can accommodate your skills with various activities.
