This Sports Volunteering Project Uganda, will take you to the heart of Uganda where you get involved in meaningful volunteer work. We ask volunteers interested in the Uganda volunteer work to commit at least twelve weeks (3 months) in order to ensure a worthwhile experience. But we accept volunteers from a minimum of 4 weeks’ duration.

We want every volunteer to feel that their time in Uganda was put to good use and that they had adequate time to make an impact. The preferred length of trip for a volunteer’s first visit is 8 -12 weeks. Although we do not strictly prohibit shorter stays, we do request that our volunteers are able to offer at least one month of voluntary services. Occasionally we will allow for a shorter stay than one month, but this is handled on a case by case basis.

The trip starts and ends in Uganda’s capital Kampala. You will be based in Mukono District. Mukono is one of the most relaxed and attractive suburbs, east of Kampala (the capital city of Uganda). THE SPORTS VOLUNTEERING PROJECT IN MUKONO:

Many children in Uganda served don’t have the opportunity to receive proper coaching and they lack basic sports skills. Participants on our Sports Volunteering Project Uganda work with schools and community teams after school. Sports have the power to bring people together. It speaks a universal language and cuts through culture, race and religion.

Through our sports development program in Uganda, we aim at enhancing the physical, social and emotional development of children and youth in Uganda. The program provides at-risk children and youth a safe environment in which they participate in a number of extra-curricular activities.

You can volunteer as a sports coaching instructor of athletics, baseball, basketball, boxing, cricket, football, golf, hockey, martial arts, netball, polo, rugby, surfing, swimming, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball and more!

Sports coaching volunteers also help coordinate important educational workshops in areas lacking emphasis in general school curricula such as recycling, nutrition, hygiene, and self-esteem. This is a fun project for anyone who loves working with children and youth. The youth are very enthusiastic and always keen to learn, play, and interact with volunteers.

During the sports development program, we emphasize important core values like mutual respect, trust, fair-play and self-esteem as well as sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership. Sports Coaching volunteers contributing to this program will plan and lead practices of understanding the sport or game. Working in the heart of the community you can help put a smile on the faces of the children and youth of Uganda.

You can teach a new sport or add skills to the sports activities our children and youth already know. You can participate in fitness and training of sports for children and youth and you can combine it with another project, like mentoring for slum or village youth.

You can join this program all year round and you can stay for as long three months and engage your team into various competitions. This Sports Volunteering Project Uganda is unique as its combine volunteering, fun, adventure and trekking, you will need to be in good shape to participate.

On the weekends you are encouraged to explore the country with friends you make on the program, and our representatives are available to give travel advice and make bookings for you.
