Motorcycle Volunteers Wanted
Location: Santa Marta, Colombia
We aren't looking for volunteers who just want a free bed, we are looking for confident, open-minded, reliable and hard-working people to become part of our family and help us continue to build something we are all crazy passionate about.
As far as what you would be doing with us. It is three parts: promotions, help around the shop, and assistant guiding. First, we need our volunteers to help us get bookings for the tours! This consists of going to different bars/hostels and just talking to patrons and selling tours. So pretty much just go have some drinks and a good time and bring in some customers! Helping around the shop will be just basic bike maintenance that we can easily teach you if you don't know (washing bikes, lubricant on chains, running around town buying motorcycle parts). And last but certainly not least, helping on tours!
When we run larger tours we send a backup guide (volunteer) with the main guide in case they need a hand along the way. Things like getting customers drinks, helping with logistics along the way, and just being an extra set of eyes on the road. 9 times out of 10 though, you'll just come along for the ride, and when you go on the tours, everything is covered by us so you won't have to pay for lodging, food and some drinks!
In addition to coming for free on our tours, volunteers will receive a dorm bed at the hostel we are attached to, as well as free use of all our motorcycles after hours, for running errands during the day, and for when you wish to take a couple of days off and go exploring. We don't provide food for volunteers as we feel the free use of all our motorcycles through the duration of the volunteer period more than makes up for the cost of a couple simple meals per day.
From our volunteers we normally require at least a basic motorcycle riding ability (geared, not automatic), basic Spanish, and at least a 1-month stay. However depending on what we require at the time, and what other skills you have to offer (for example web development, online promotions/marketing, graphic design or artistic skills), we will definitely consider making exceptions to the above.
