A.J. Teeter Farm - NY USA - Volunteers Base - Free Volunteering and Work Exchange Opportunities.

Location: NY, United States

3 miles south of Ithaca bordering Robert Treman State Park. We are an organic grass (hay) farm, we raise beef cattle and have a roadside u-pick cutting garden (flowers), we also have a large vegetable garden for home use and some outside sales. Suggested length of stay for volunteers, 2 weeks, longer if schedules allow. When volunteers are needed, early May through end of November, although would consider other times of the year as well. Accommodation is a guest room in our home suitable for singe or couple. Non-farming activities include, some yard work possibly. Expectations of work for volunteers is flexible, 25-30 hours per week, sometimes weather dependent, tasks include helping with hay production, repairing fencing, planting, weeding, mulching, possibly some brush cutting. Nearby area sights and fun things to do: this is the heart of the Finger Lakes - State parks, Cayuga Lake, The Finger Lakes Trail can be reached from the farm. We're somewhat close to the county bus service, we can also provide some transportation. Language spoken English. Children probably not accepted, pets maybe. We're meat eaters but can accommodate vegetarians. This a 150+ year old family farm; we both work off farm to some extent and need people who can work independently with a minimum of oversight.
