Youth Hostel is Looking for General Handyman for RV Renovations

Report Login

Location: Crescent City, CA, USA

This position involves prepping and sealing a camp trailer roof, repairing rot below the skin above one wheel well, repairing one inside wall in the bathroom, and prepping and painting the entire outside of the trailer. Estimated time for sealing the roof is one day, and we only expect volunteers to do two days of work per week if volunteers are domestically located. The length of the position is flexible, but we ask for a minimum of 30 days.

International volunteers are eligible for a food stipend, and asked to do a few more days of work per week, but no one will ever be asked to do more than 5 days of work per week, nor will anyone be requested to do work after the dinner hour. The amount of work done per week is negotiable, and we are completely flexible. For those looking for a long term or seasonal opportunity, we have other things that can be done on the property should you finish the trailer.

With respect to access to cooking, showers, bathroom, volunteers will have access to showers, and cooking inside the main hostel on any day that the hostel is not booked as a whole house booking. On days where the house is not available, volunteers will have access to a port-o-potty that will be installed inside the bathroom of the camper, as well as an electric surface and roaster oven for cooking. We are taking steps to get the wiring updated and hooked up to power so that volunteers can use the camp trailer to its fullest. Linens, blankets, and towels are provided to volunteers.

The Lakeside Hostel is managed by DNGR, a California 501(c)3 non-profit association. All applicants are required to provide government pictured ID and agree to a back ground check. For more information or additional information please contact us.
