Volunteer with children in Uganda

Location: Kampala, Uganda

Victorious Children’s Ministries (VCM) is a Christian Community-Based Organization in Uganda. Located in the Kawanda Kaayi Zone, Wakiso District

What we do:
We work with families and individuals in the community together with sponsors, volunteers, and supporters to provide a safe, happy, loving family environment, health care, and education to the children. VCMU houses 15 children at the ministry supports another 33 vulnerable children in the community with food and school fees and provides an education to 100 children, ages 3-12 from poor families at CK Nursery & primary school. We cultivate crops at our 3-acre garden to provide healthy meals for the children, distribute food to poor families in the community and sell some crops to provide funds for the ministry.

We remain more committed than ever to our goals and know that through Jesus we are winners. Our work is important to those we serve and we look forward to continued progress in 2023 and beyond.

We have a great variety of volunteer opportunities available and would be honored and privileged to have you come and volunteer with us on our projects.

All you need is to bring yourself, your desire to make a difference, your love for children, and experience that will be invaluable in making a difference in the lives of our children and very rewarding for you.

Volunteer Placements Available at our project include:
Construction
Teaching
Bible teaching
Helping the children with their English fluency, numeracy, reading, organizing games, and other activities.
Helping in the orphanage; organizing and playing games with the children, homework, craft activities,
Helping prepare meals, cleaning.
Organizing and facilitating sporting activities, the kids love football, netball, jump rope, hula hoop, running, and ball games
Teaching the children computer skills.
Helping teach the children life skills
Painting
Agriculture; we have 3 acres where we grow crops to feed the children, and cultivation is ongoing.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT

Volunteers work Monday to Friday breakfast is served from 8:00 am to 8:30 am, Lunch is served from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm The workday generally finishes around 4 pm and dinner is served from 8 pm-9 pm.

LIVING ARRANGEMENT

Accommodation
Here at VCM, we have a very nice Volunteer Room with comfortable beds and a bathing area. This is a homestay experience. You'll be living with some of VCM's children and others running the Ministry. Bedding is provided and the family will wash your clothing weekly. We ask that you bring your own towels. Running water is not always available but water can be provided in buckets for bathing.
VCM will also provide you with 3 meals a day, 7 days. Tea, coffee, and clean drinking water are available daily. We are willing to accommodate anyone with food allergies. We ask that you note any special requirements on your volunteer application. There is Internet available most days. Accommodation is secure, we have locks on all doors and a wonderful guard dog named Rain!
