For the Women Empowerment and Child Support project, volunteers can assist by sharing their skills in entrepreneurship, business development, or practical training like tailoring, crafts, or basic computer skills. Together we will help organize workshops, mentor women in self help groups, and provide fresh ideas on income generating activities.So far, we have managed to build a Womens Resource Center, where a variety of activities are taking place. These include tailoring, a salon, and a small grocery business all run by the women themselves.
For teaching sports and languages, volunteers will assist in our primary schools by teaching students languages such as English and helping younger children with basic mathematics. They will also support the schools by organizing sports activities, including physical education classes. Volunteers will work closely with other local teachers helping to plan lessons, organize classroom activities, and support the overall learning process.
Farming and gardening, I have a small but well-sized garden in my compound, and I would really love for volunteers to work with me on farming and gardening activities. Volunteers can help plant, maintain, and harvest vegetables and fruits, while also learning about sustainable gardening practices.
Work in hospitals, If you are a qualified doctor or nurse, you can come volunteer at our local hospital in Karonga in several departments. All you need is a copy of your ID if you are a student, or an introductory letter. For doctors, please also share your certificates. You should include in your letter the number of days you plan to stay and the department you would like to work in. You will need to bring your own coat, scrubs, or any equipment you might require. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work hand in hand with our local professional doctors and nurses, gaining practical experience while contributing meaningfully to patient care in our community.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
We welcome committed volunteers for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 4 months.
LIVING ARRANGEMENT
The accommodation is family hosted, and we treat every volunteer as part of our family. Meals are prepared by our own chef, with breakfast, lunch, and supper all taken care of. We like to eat together, share stories, and even pray together if you are a Christian.
The house is well-fenced, and security is top-notch. We have two single rooms, one with a private shower and toilet, and the other without and two shared rooms, allowing us to accommodate 6 to 7 volunteers comfortably. All toilets and showers are inside the house.
We also have a maid who helps with laundry, cleaning the rooms and making beds, although this is optional since some volunteers prefer to keep their rooms private.
