The main goal of this project is to provide volunteers with the opportunity to learn artisan techniques from the ground up while working side by side with experienced local artisans. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own ideas, creativity, and personal vision, which artisans help translate into handmade products using local skills and traditional methods.
Through this collaborative process, volunteers explore different crafts, experiment creatively, and participate in producing meaningful handmade items. By the end of their stay, volunteers may create and take home a unique handmade souvenir that reflects both their creativity and the local culture they have learned from.
In addition, volunteers will have time to visit Maasai Market and local gift shops to observe how handmade products are presented, priced, and sold to visitors. This exposure allows volunteers to understand the market side of craftsmanship, gain insight into customer preferences, and hear stories from sellers offering a valuable perspective from the other side of the coin.
