Hello, I'm Bonface from the Ngeri village in Kenya. I would like to invite anybody who would like to come and experience what life is like around the great Lake Victoria.I live with my wife and children near the village center. I welcome international volunteers and I don't have any requirements on the length of your stay, you may stay long as it pleases you.
The activities you can get involved in, when staying here, is:
1) Farming
2) Football with the village kids
3) Educating the young girls in the community

5) Safaris along Lake Victoria

You can come experience and learn about farming in Kenya.
The farming year here is divided into two harvests, each taking 5 months, with one month of planting before each harvest. The two plantings take place in January/February and July/August.
Before the planting, we start with plowing the fields using cows to aerate the soil. After that comes the planting of crops and the continuous weeding of the unwanted plants. During the harvest, you'll be able to experience the collection of tomatoes, corn, cabbage, kale, watermelon, etc. You are also free to get involved in everyday activities such as cooking and feeding the animals.

There are three schools full of children that will be happy to meet you or play football with you on a football pitch nearby. My home is located right next to the Primary School and I coach kids and play matches on the pitch right next to the school.

My wife and I are passionate about educating and supporting the young girls of the community. We already have a project where a former volunteer helps us to provide sanitary pads. We could use more help within educating and providing remedies for practicing safe sex or abstain from sex before marriage.

I also own a small motorcycle garage where I fix motorcycles and sell spare parts. You'll have the opportunity to learn some simple motorcycle repairs and maintenance work if you're interested.

Lake Victoria is situated 200 meters from here where you can enjoy a nice swim and the beautiful sunsets.
You will get the time to visit the nearest highlands and islands around lake Victoria and also you will get time to swim and eat fresh fish from the lake. I offer free safaris to the nearest waterfall and highlands.

During your stay with us, you will be able to learn our local language called Luo and experience our local food made of our freshly harvested ingredients. I offer free accommodation and three delicious homemade meals every day. We're able to accommodate any diet constraints.
You will have lots of time to talk with the local people around the village and make new friends.
Also my 2 year old son Veron loves visitors and you will have plenty of time to play with him.
You will be able to help around at any time you feel like it. On weekends we don't work, just relax and enjoy the life around the village.

The kids and families of the community are always in need of donations such as clothes and football gear. I can help arrange the handout of donations and make sure it goes to the kids and families that needs it the most.
I will be happy to help arrange for you how to get to my village and come pick you up on a motorbike from the nearest bus stop.
When staying with me the nearest marketplace, is located 250 meters away. The nearest bigger city with shops and market is Sindo, 30 mins away by motorbike.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT
Maximum 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week
LIVING ARRANGEMENT
One shared room with four beds and mosquito nets. Three meals per day are always provided. We can accommodate any diet restrictions. Everything is free of charge.
