Volunteer Teaching in Cambodia

Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia
The Cambodia English School of Higher Education Organisation (C.E.S.H.E.O) is a government registered NGO charity run school (registered Non-Profit number 868) with four locations just outside of Siem Reap City. CESHE invites students between the ages of 4 and 20 to attend classes. Our schools are located in the beautiful Cambodian countryside.

C.E.S.H.E.O supports over 750 children from the surrounding villages by giving them free lessons in English and I.T.

The schools really benefit from any help people can give. You can teach English, teach I.T, get involved with building projects, fix up computers in our new computer room, make videos to promote the school, help with cleaning and gardening, help with fundraising or help with anything else you think could be beneficial.

Everybody is welcome to volunteer - you do not need to be a native English speaker - any help is always much appreciated! CESHEO has now hosted more than 1000 volunteers from over 50 different countries; you could be the next! Volunteers wishing to join our program must commit to a very minimum of two weeks - for both theirs and the children's benefit.

A general working day is around 6 hours. The schedule varies a bit at each location, but an example day of teaching would be: 6am - Wake up & shower, 7am - eat breakfast, 7:30am - leave for school. 8 - 10am - Teach! 12pm - eat lunch, 1pm - 3pm - Teach! 3- 4pm - one hour break, 4 - 6pm - Teach! 6:30pm arrive home & eat dinner.

Although the schools and children are our number one priority - everybody deserves a break and therefore it’s not all about volunteering. Saturdays and Sundays are your days to do whatever you wish; visiting the nearby temples of Angkor Wat, taking part in cooking classes with my wife at the house or going to town with your fellow volunteers and having a well deserved beer!

Volunteers will join me and my family and live alongside Khmer people in the countryside a short distance away from the school itself. We have a "Volunteer Guesthouse" built on site at my family home to host all of our volunteers. For more info, please see our website www.ceshe.org
