Volunteering in Costa Rica is a dream for people who love green hills, wildlife, and outdoor work — eco-farms, reforestation, animal projects, hostels, and community education stays appear in humid lowlands, cloud-forest hills, and Pacific or Caribbean zones with very different weather.
Spanish is widely used; English is common in tourist belts. Expect outdoor tasks, heat or rain depending on season, and a mix of conservation-minded and hospitality projects. Always check what “help” means in hours and tasks.
Buses and shared shuttles connect many towns, but remote farms can be a long last leg. Agree on arrival plans, food, and rooms before you travel.
