Permaculture and edible forests ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŠ Puerto Serrano, Spain

Location: Puerto Serrano, Spain

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Nestled in the stunning Sierra de Cรกdiz, Puerto Serrano is a white village surrounded by rolling hills, olive groves, and Mediterranean forests . This is a place where the land is still alive with tradition, where the air smells of thyme and rosemary, and where life moves to the rhythm of the seasons.

We are working on a permaculture and edible forest project, focused on restoring the land and creating a thriving food forest that will benefit both people and the planet. The goal is to regenerate degraded land, plant fruit and nut trees, build healthy soil, and create a space where the community can learn about sustainable living and agroecology . This is a hands-on, practical project, and we need volunteers who are ready to get their hands dirty and be part of something meaningful.

The work is varied and changes with the seasons. It includes preparing the land, planting trees, mulching, watering, building swales and water-harvesting systems, maintaining the vegetable garden, and caring for the young forest. You will learn by doing, working alongside experienced permaculturists who will teach you about soil health, water management, syntropic farming, and regenerative design . If you have skills in building, carpentry, or animal care, those are also very welcome.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
We ask for around 5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, with flexibility depending on the weather and the stage of the project. The work is physical and outdoors, so be prepared for heat, dust, and the satisfaction of seeing the land transform. We work as a team, sharing tasks and supporting each other. The atmosphere is relaxed, collaborative, and full of good energy.
LIVING ARRANGEMENT
Accommodation is simple and comfortable, either in a shared room, a tent, or a caravan depending on availability . You will have access to a kitchen, bathroom, and common areas. Meals are shared and made with fresh, local, and often homegrown ingredients. The food is vegetarian and healthy, and we love cooking together and sharing recipes.

Puerto Serrano is a beautiful area with endless opportunities for exploration. On your days off, you can hike through the Sierra de Grazalema, visit the stunning white villages of Cรกdiz, swim in the nearby rivers, or simply relax and enjoy the peace of the countryside. The region is rich in culture, history, and natural beauty, and you will have plenty of time to discover it.
