Medicinal herb 🌿 garden project in Gran Canaria, Spain
Location: Maopalomas, Canary Islands, Spain
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Volunteers wanted to help establish and maintain a medicinal herb garden and park on a stunning piece of land at the bottom of a prehistoric volcano. The garden is set up for educational, non-profit purposes. The herbs we plant will be used for education, feeding our animals, and other non-profit uses. We have machinery for all the hard garden work, so the tasks we need help with are manageable and varied.
We are sorry, but we cannot accept smokers on our property. The minimum stay is 3 weeks, and we normally take only 2 volunteers at a time.
We offer 3 meals per day, plus snacks available all day, as part of the employees' menu. We promote a healthy lifestyle and do not serve alcohol, drugs, or smoking on the property.
Our land is in a beautiful mountain area in the southern part of the island, not far from the biggest sandy beach on the island. We have 6 natural water springs, two of which are drinking water quality, a very old palm valley, huge hardwood pine trees, horses, donkeys, small goats, sheep, and large parrot birds. Tourists often say we are the most beautiful natural holiday resort on the island.
Public buses stop at our holiday resort and also go to the beach. We are a relaxed holiday resort, and our clients are nature lovers. We do not offer noisy evening social life for clients or volunteers.
Volunteers will learn all about medicinal herbs, healthy lifestyle, yoga, sustainable and eco technologies, and more. The site language is English, so it doesn't matter where you come from.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
We work a maximum of 4 to 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. The schedule depends on the weather, and tasks may be split into 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the late afternoon or after sunset. Light tasks are mostly suitable for females and include planting, weeding, watering, setting up the watering system, cleaning, clay painting, building small clay or stone decorative structures and benches, and other permaculture-related jobs. For hard gardening tasks, we use machinery and our staff to prepare the soil. You will have a site manager and teacher to guide you and help with any needs. We are sorry, but we cannot accept smokers on our property. The minimum stay is 3 weeks, and we normally take only 2 volunteers at a time.
