PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Tucked away in the lush green hills of Bizkaia, in the Basque Country, Sopuerta is a quiet village surrounded by forests, rivers, and rolling farmland. It is peaceful, rural, and full of character, with a strong sense of community and a deep connection to the land.
We are building a circus and arts space here. A place where creativity can run wild, where performers can train, create, and share their craft, and where the local community and visitors can come together to experience the magic of live art. Think workshops, shows, residencies, and gatherings under a big top or under the open sky.
We are at the beginning of this adventure, and we need people who are ready to get their hands dirty and their imaginations flowing. The work is varied and evolving. It includes clearing land, preparing the site, building structures, working with wood and recycled materials, setting up performance areas, creating seating, and helping with the design and layout of the space. Whether you are a builder, a dreamer, a painter, a carpenter, or just someone with energy and enthusiasm, there is a place for you here.
Sopuerta is a beautiful area with endless opportunities for exploration. On your days off, you can hike through the forests, visit nearby beaches, explore Bilbao, or simply enjoy the peace of the countryside. The Basque Country is rich in culture, food, and traditions, and you will have plenty of time to discover it.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT
We ask for around 5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, with flexibility depending on the weather and the stage of the project. The tasks are physical and creative, and we work together as a team. Mornings might be spent building, afternoons painting, and evenings planning the next phase. We value everyone’s ideas and skills, and we encourage volunteers to bring their own creative projects to share with the group.LIVING ARRANGEMENT
Accommodation is simple but comfortable. You will stay in a shared space, with access to a kitchen, bathroom, and common areas. Meals are provided and shared together, often cooked with local and seasonal ingredients.
