Permaculture farm in the Carpathian Mountains, Romania 🌿🏔️

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
We are a hillside farm situated in the northern Carpathian mountains at 450 metres altitude, with a nearby peak reaching 800 metres, and surrounded by mountains up to 2000 metres. The landscape is wild, beautiful, and full of forests, hills, and clean spring water. The climate is forest-like, with natural humidity and a balanced ecosystem that we are committed to preserving.
The farm covers 2.5 hectares and is rich with fruit trees, including many walnut trees, apple, cherry, pear, plum, and sour cherry trees. There are also large varieties of shrubs, wild nuts, wild berries, vegetables, ornamental flowers, wild medicinal flowers, and ornamental trees. Every season brings something new to harvest, collect, or plant.
We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about permaculture and who love nature and its laws. We want to work together with you to manage the garden according to permaculture principles. This means making plans, planting seeds, creating raised beds using hugelkultur and mandala designs, mulching the soil, planting fruit trees and shrubs, designing a food forest, making compost, and fencing the land using weeds and species that are best for living fences.
The work is varied and follows the rhythm of the seasons. In summer, there is harvesting of fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants, along with collecting and preserving seeds. There is garden cleaning, making raised beds, maintaining existing constructions, preserving food for winter, and learning the whole process from start to finish. In other seasons, there is always something to do, from building and designing to planning and maintaining.
We also have creative and artistic workshops, making soap, candles, handmade accessories from leather, wood, and silver. There is a fireplace where we can gather, cook, and sing, and we believe that collaboration and open communication make everything flow better.
Meals are provided and we support whatever the volunteers want to eat. We also have a three-year-old German hound who is part of the farm life.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT
The work is based on the needs of the farm and the season. We are looking for people who know what to do in different situations on a farm, or who are eager to learn. The work can include everything from the ground up: preparing food, discussing permaculture ideas, designing gardens with flowers and stones, planting, mulching, cleaning, building a bread oven, designing and building a ground basement, and more. We expect a serious collaboration with people who are motivated and passionate about permaculture and nature.LIVING ARRANGEMENT
Accommodation options include a little guest house with one room for two people, a spot in my house for one volunteer, a room with two beds that is currently in progress, and plenty of space for tents. The house has a bathroom with shower and hot water, and an eco toilet is available outside for those staying in tents. We have spring water, electricity, internet, and all the basic utilities you need.Meals are provided and we support whatever the volunteers want to eat.
