Regenerating land and building community in the Alentejo, Portugal 🌳

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
We are a small family project, just starting out. The land is located in a beautiful part of Alentejo, with rolling hills, pastures, cork oaks, and eucalyptus trees. We focus our efforts on creating a safe, supportive, healthy, and sustainable cohousing project. The land is close to a beautiful canyon and directly on the historical Rota Vicentina hiking trail. It is a 10-minute drive on a dirt 🔒[Verify to view address], close to São Luís and Relíquias (20 minutes away), and 40 minutes from the beach. There is no public transport here, but you can catch a ride with one of us when we take the kids to school.
The land consists of 50 hectares, mainly eucalyptus to be reforested, along with a lake and a small creek. We have horses, dogs, chickens, and a small garden. The setup is very basic. We are off-grid with solar power and borehole water, an outdoor kitchen, and a shower. The future common house is still under construction. There is good WiFi, the possibility to park your caravan or bus, and soon there will be living containers too. You can also stay in a tent, let us know if you need us to provide one.
We are looking for helpers who act self-responsibly, can work independently as much as in a team, are social, physically fit, and comfortable in a very basic and nature-connected environment. Yes, that includes all sorts of critters and the occasional power or water shortage. We are a vegetarian project and do not tolerate alcohol or drug abuse.
Please keep in mind that we are at least a 10-minute car drive on a dirt track from any public road. There are no public transport services here, and taxis will also not come to us. Having your own vehicle would be a plus, but we can pick you up from Odemira Bus Station or Funcheira Train Station for a small fee.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT
We are currently looking for help with farm and forest work. We are regenerating 15 hectares of eucalyptus forest, which means lots of tree felling, clearing, peeling eucalyptus, making firewood, and general farm work, gardening, and maintenance around the property. We need handy or DIY people who know how to work with chainsaws, trimmers, and general tools. The minimum stay is 3 weeks, and we work approximately 25 hours per week.LIVING ARRANGEMENT
Accommodation is basic but comfortable. You can stay in a tent, park your caravan or bus, or soon in living containers. Meals are provided, three vegetarian or vegan meals per day. We also offer WiFi and can take you on trips to the canyon, beach, markets, parties, and gatherings. We cook and take care of shared spaces together. In your free time, this is a wonderful area for exploring the historical Rota Vicentina, which passes straight through the land, enjoying the tranquility of the valley, or simply disconnecting.Please keep in mind that we are at least a 10-minute car drive on a dirt track from any public road.
