Community centres in rural Poland – near Kielce 🎨

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
I am self-employed and also run a young non-profit organisation called Fundacja Alter Edu. Among other activities, we run two community centres located in a rural area, providing children with fewer opportunities with free after-school activities. These include art, music, IT and robotics, juggling, DIY, dance, speech therapy, and many others. I used to do voluntary services quite often myself, including European Voluntary Service (EVS) and workcamps with SCI International.
Fundacja Alter Edu is a young Polish non-profit organisation located in a rural area near the city of Kielce. We are involved in a number of activities in the local community, but our main focus is running two community centres that provide free after-school activities for children from disadvantaged families. Within the centres, we offer help with homework, prophylactic and educational workshops, foreign language classes, IT and robotics, dance, music and art, juggling, intercultural workshops, recycling and DIY, speech therapy, and much more. All of it is completely free for the children.
We are constantly expanding our educational offer by inviting creative people to join our team of educators, both for short-term and long-term stays. Our location is an added bonus. We are surrounded by woods, with access to a beautiful lake, picturesque ruins of historic steel works, a quarry with footprints of the oldest dinosaur, the oldest oak tree in Poland, and many other natural attractions.
We are looking for foreign volunteers to provide the children (aged 5 to 16) with extra stimuli, both when it comes to learning foreign languages and acquiring new skills. There are many families in our community interested in hosting volunteers who would like to join our team. If you like spending time with children actively, playing and educating them in a non-formal, fun way, and if you can stay with us for at least a week, this could be a great fit.
There are many interesting places to visit in the local area. You can spend your free time in the countryside, or visit Kielce, the capital of the region, located only 15 kilometres away. Two regular bus lines and a minibus make access to the city easy. You will also be provided with a bicycle for getting around.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT
We are looking for creative volunteers to help our children practise their language skills and also encourage them to acquire new skills that you can share. The work is varied and includes helping with workshops, playing with the children, assisting with activities, and being a positive presence in the centres. The schedule is flexible and depends on the activities planned for each week. We value initiative and enthusiasm, and our team is very supportive and eager to share skills with others.LIVING ARRANGEMENT
There are families in our community interested in hosting foreign volunteers. Conditions may vary, but you are granted a private room and full board. After you contact us and we know your expectations, we can better match you with a host family. You will spend a great time with our children and your host family.
