Help run a hiking hostel in Sassello, Liguria, Italy 🏔️🌿

I recently moved to Sassello, a small village nestled in the Ligurian mountains, about 40 minutes from the sea. This is a place of wild nature, dense forests, crystal-clear rivers perfect for swimming in summer, and endless hiking trails that wind through the Apennines. If you love solitude, fresh air, and the sound of birds instead of traffic, this is the right place for you. If you are looking for nightlife or movida, this is not the right place.

My house is about 3 kms from the village centre, and there is very little public transport. You will need to enjoy walking, cycling, or having your own wheels. But the isolation is part of the charm. You are surrounded by chestnut trees, streams, and the quiet rhythm of mountain life.

I am looking for help to maintain the place and keep it running smoothly for hikers and nature lovers who come to stay. The work is varied and hands-on, and it changes with the seasons.The tasks include gardening, weeding, grass trimming, house cleaning, and general maintenance of the outdoor areas. You might also help with preparing the space for guests, chopping wood, or small repairs. I ask for around 4 hours of work per day, with flexibility depending on the weather and the season. The work is physical but peaceful, and you will see the results of your efforts every day.You can have a private room in the house, or pitch your tent in the garden during the warmer months. I offer food, but I prefer to keep meal times and cooking independent. You are welcome to use the kitchen, or cook outside with fire, which is a lovely way to enjoy the evenings. The food is simple, local, and seasonal.

Sassello is a hidden gem in Liguria. On your days off, you can explore the many hiking trails, swim in the river, visit the nearby medieval villages, or take a day trip to the coast. The region is rich in history, food, and natural beauty, and there is always something to discover.
