PROJECT DESCRIPTION
"Hello Marseille" is a self-sustained and self-managed community of free citizens implementing educational projects. We came together as a non-profit organization registered with the French government since 2010. As a base for further development, we run two small and humble traveler spaces, the Guesthouse and the Share House, where we also promote a youth hostel network in French-speaking countries.
We welcome travelers aged 21 to 35 who hold student status, a tourist visa, a working permit, or EU residency.
Ideal For ChangeMakers, social activists, young social entrepreneurs, students, passing travelers, and those interested in city woofing.
Not Suitable For
This experience is not for people looking for paid work, a holiday with no responsibilities, light woofing, or a quiet, solitary retreat.

We invite you to step into a culture of change built on shared knowledge and best practices. Here, everyone can experiment with working together toward a common goal of social impact and ecological care. It is a unique opportunity to learn about a wide range of topics in a truly multicultural environment.
As a volunteer Community Caretaker with us, you will learn about sustainable community management through an immersive, hands-on learning-by-doing approach. We offer six positions with a commitment of 24 to 35 hours per week, for a minimum of 3 months, with 9 months preferred.
The team shares responsibilities across community care, guest reception, project coordination, tourist information, cleaning, and phone and online reservations. We run all activities together, and through our collective efforts, we create the conditions that allow for free learning, accommodation, laundry, and food for everyone. We provide a strong pedagogical framework, training, administrative support, and insurance.
Who We Are Looking For
Our volunteers are team players who represent the entire community to visitors, guests, and members. You will be the key person connecting members to our various projects while fostering a warm and friendly atmosphere. By sharing daily life and coordinating closely with other team members, you will be at the heart of our collective intelligence and participatory governance.
We treat our volunteers as responsible adults who are genuinely committed to helping a sustainable project grow its positive impact on society. Beyond your serious engagement with the community, around 4 to 5 hours per day on average, you will have the chance to connect with our projects, our partner network, and the vibrant local culture of Provence.
A word of caution: if you are not coming with a genuine spirit of contributing to the common good and community building, this probably is not the right fit. We are not a place focused solely on personal freedom. We also ask for real commitment and shared responsibility within your team.

We do not offer jobs here, only a meaningful volunteer experience within an authentic learning-by-doing social entrepreneurship project dedicated to the common good.

As a knowledge-based community, we seek to share our time and energy with serious individuals who are genuinely interested in matters of soft transition. We do not require specific diplomas or experience, but we do look for serious motivation, maturity, and a peaceful mindset. We often prefer people with an interest in the humanities, such as anthropology, sociology, psychology, or those who want to get involved in sustainable development and learn the necessary skills and concepts.
Hello Marseille can become your home away from home, offering a unique experience in sustainable development and community management. We are located right in the heart of Marseille, in the famous Vieux Port area, a safe and lively neighborhood close to pubs, historical sites, and just a 7-minute bike ride from the beach.
