PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Looking for a dedicated, inquiring lover of gardening who wants to learn and create community over time. Our 25-acre non-certified organic, biodynamic creek-side farm supports a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, medicinal, chickens, a dog, worms, and a greenhouse. We are located 3 miles from Talent and 15 minutes from Ashland, Oregon.
The work is 30 hours per week, usually 5 hours per day, 6 days per week. Your day off is flexible, but preferably Monday to Thursday. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with solitude and working independently, yet enjoys active discussions around spirituality, personality, and living in the world.
We focus on living in community and sustainably. We eat mostly what we grow and local products. Each person is expected to help clean up. Breakfast and lunch are serve-yourself meals made from food on hand. Dinners are shared with the farm owners and based on current crops. We are primarily vegetarian but also eat some organic meats. We cannot accommodate strict vegans or paleo diets. We are fluent only in English.
We also offer daily meditations and other open classes. Successful farmers are comfortable with solitude and working independently yet enjoy active discussions around spirituality, personality, and living in the world.
Talent is nearby, with air or bus travel available in Medford, and further 🔒[Verify to view address]r can be scheduled with the owners. Rogue Valley has great hiking and biking, excellent theatre, music, and lots of places to explore.
WORKING ARRANGEMENT
We ask for a minimum two-month stay, or come for the season. The first week is a trial period to see if it is a good fit for you and for us. Work includes gardening, irrigation maintenance, chicken care, making medicinal and edible products, and possibly simple carpentry projects. LIVING ARRANGEMENT
We have two living arrangements: a private sunroom off our main house, and a private cabin heated by wood, with a humanure toilet, no running water or power, but a solar shower, with bathroom and shower facilities nearby.
