WORK CAMP IN MARRAKECH
Report
Location: Marrakech, Morocco
The main activity of this Work Camp is to paint and restore the school Ibno Romi. The "Camp Leaders" make a program to paint the murals by center; the idea is to paint the center of creative and original, not as a mere function of maintenance.
They also carry out cleaning duties as part of the maintenance of the center.
"Green Activities" will be launched. You will help in the creation of green spaces: planting trees and shrubs, pruning and care of existing plants ...
To eat, you have to cook, but this is also a group activity that you will carry out with other national and international volunteers. It is a good opportunity to learn recipes from different countries and show off with a typical recipe of your community.
Games and animation with children in the school and the host community activities will also be organized.
In off hours and weekends, the "Camp Leaders" organized group activities, excursions, cultural visits, etc; but also You have free time for yourself.
This project is the result of a partnership between the Moroccan Ministry of Education and various non-profit organization working with children with fewer opportunities.
The objective of this Work Camp is to contribute to improving the school district Ibno Romi Almasira neighborhood in Marrakech.
Almasira neighborhood consists of families with few resources. Its population is in clear social disadvantage and requires care and socio-educational support (especially for younger). It has good relations with the environment and through joint efforts involving a number of people on a voluntary basis. The main identified needs revolve around the rehabilitative care of children who require additional educational support.
We have chosen this place because of the needs presented. The structure itself the center is fine, but its exterior is very run down. It is a community-based school, whose funding is not sufficient to carry out the tasks of restoration and maintenance proposals in the field.
One of the most positive aspects of Work Camps is the cultural exchange that occurs between the local population and the participants. Work Camp takes place in a particular community, so volunteers will be part of the daily lives of its members; will buy in their stores, take tea in their tea houses, play with children in the neighborhood ... will maintain direct contact with each other, so the impact of the project will not only fall on the beneficiary population, but it will impact throughout the community.
Work Camp consists of an international group so that and the participant will acquire basic communication skills in a foreign language, learn to work together and by consensus, enhance their ability to relate to others, but above all, They will be part of a project with great social impact.
Anyone between 18 and 35 years can participate in our Work Camps!
